The Professional Programs Office and the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University (http://vetmed.tamu.edu/) invites applications for an 11-month, full-time, clinical-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor to serve as a large animal clinician educator. The anticipated start date is in Fall 2023. The successful candidate will become part of the Professional Programs group within the Dean’s Office, and will have an academic home in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences within the School.
As a clinician educator, this unique position includes a primary role in the three preclinical years of the DVM curriculum. The chosen individual will have a primary instructional role and will participate in instruction of the integrated and highly experiential DVM curriculum. The individual will participate in multiple courses, including the Professional & Clinical Skills course, which is contiguous through the first six semesters of the curriculum. In this course students gain clinical skills in the simulation laboratory, professional skills, including communication, ethical decision-making, personal and professional finance, and critical thinking skills through problem-based instruction. Experience and interest in food animal species is preferred. The selected candidate will be expected to adhere to the School’s code of professional conduct.
The successful candidate will devote up to 70% of their time to instruction in the preclinical curriculum with the remaining time devoted to clinical instruction, consultation, and patient care in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital in the area of Food Animal Medicine and Surgery.
