• What you can expect as an extern at River’s Edge
  • Hands-on experience with quality mentorship and direction
  • Demonstrated Excellence in internal medicine, dentistry, and soft-tissue surgery.
  • Daily rounds (discussion of case management, diagnostic, and treatment recommendations)
  • Surgical experience based on comfort level and demonstrated ability
  • Learn how to navigate and merge “Gold Standard” University medicine with real-world clients on a budget
• Incentives
  • River’s Edge is happy to offer complimentary housing at a local hotel or Airbnb.
  • $300 stipend for a two-week externship and $650 for a 4-week externship.
  • Potential opportunity to join our team. Students with interest in employment will receive preferred status as well as a generous sign-on bonus.
  • River’s Edge is located near Shawnee National Forest with hundreds of miles of trails (hiking, horseback and ATV) and within 30 minutes from Kentucky Lake and Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area with tons of activities for outdoor enthusiasts.

For over 15 years, River's Edge Veterinary Hospital, INC, an independently, woman owned practice has met the needs of pet owners and their dogs and cats in Massac County, Illinois and the greater Paducah, Kentucky area. Our purpose is to improve the quality of every patients life, every time. Our mission is to provide education and life-long relationships with our clients while striving to provide quality medicine, thoroughness and compassion to our patients. Our practice continues to grow and we are on the cusp of expanding our facilities to increase the number of exam rooms and enlarge our surgical and dental suites. River's Edge has the reputation of being one of the best veterinary practices in the region. The most extraordinary part of River's Edge VH is our team. There are only 10 employees, including Dr. Karla and our three senior team members have been with the practice for over 10 years each! We enjoy very low employee turnover simply because we treat each other and our clients the way we would want to be treated. Our clients are very loyal and most of our new clients come from recommendations from our current clients. River’s Edge is located near Shawnee National ...Forest with hundreds of miles of trails and hiking opportunities, as well as 30 minutes from Kentucky Lake and Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area with tons of outdoor activities for those who like the outdoors.
