Reporting to the Animal Health Partners, the Research Analyst will play a foundational role in building Digitalis’ knowledge creation and management capability for animal health related software, companion animal diagnostics, and broader innovation related to the veterinary ecosystem. This role is an opportunity for an exceptional researcher with hands-on experience as a veterinarian to work alongside our investment team to build an industry-leading research function that will inform investment decisions and strategy, advise existing portfolio companies on route-to-market and commercialization strategies, and originate and develop new theses to help shape the future of animal health innovation. 

• Collect, collate, and contextualize the data required to identify and support the most promising teams, businesses, and technologies in the animal health sector
• Develop and support near and long-term investment thesis development for select opportunity areas of interest
• Become an expert in novel and emerging animal health business models, the evolving regulatory landscape such as VCPR, and technology areas of interest
• Identify and interview industry subject matter experts, key opinion leaders, physicians, and management from early-stage companies – and use this external network to diligence new opportunities and support portfolio companies
• Stay current on key trends in animal health technology and represent Digitalis at industry conferences
• Complete detailed quantitative assessments, including market sizing, and building and analyzing financial models
• Complete detailed qualitative assessments, including customer discovery interviews, market mapping, and industry analysis
