This position will be based in Tifton, Georgia.
The Department of Population Health, Food Animal Health and Management Program, College of Veterinary Medicine, at the University of Georgia invites applicants for a clinical or tenure track position at the assistant or associate professor level in food animal production and preventive medicine. This position will be based at the UGA Tifton Veterinary Diagnostic and Investigational Laboratory (TVDIL) campus in Tifton, Georgia.
Responsibilities include teaching, providing food animal clinical services, scholarly activity, and outreach to livestock producers, as well as practicing veterinarians. Although the focus of this position is beef cattle, this position may also serve small ruminant and equine clients. An interest in advanced reproductive technology would be welcome, as there is equipment and a laboratory dedicated to embryo collection/transfer and on-site donor housing. There is a well-appointed haul-in facility for treating animals onsite. The service provided to clients closely models rural large animal practice in Georgia.
Rank, salary, and terms of appointment will be dependent upon qualifications and experience of the applicant.
The minimum qualifications: Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent from an accredited college/school of veterinary medicine, expertise and training in food animal veterinary medicine, and eligibility to obtain a veterinary license in the state of Georgia.
Minimum qualifications to be considered for the following ranks:
Clinical (Non-Tenure Track) Assistant Professor
Qualifications: Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent from an accredited college/school of veterinary medicine and board certification or eligibility for board certification in a field related to food animal production management or preventive medicine.
Clinical (Non-Tenure Track) Associate Professor
Qualifications: Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent from an accredited college/school of veterinary medicine, board certification or eligibility for board certification in a field related to food animal production management or preventive medicine, and 5+ years post-terminal degree experience in industry/academia.
Tenure Track Assistant Professor
Qualifications: Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent from an accredited college/school of veterinary medicine, a PhD, and board certification or eligibility for board certification in a field related to food animal production management or preventive medicine.
Tenure Track Associate Professor
Qualifications: Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent from an accredited college/school of veterinary medicine, a PhD, board certification or eligibility for board certification in a field related to food animal production management or preventive medicine, and 5+ years of post-terminal degree experience in industry/academia. Candidates must show clear and convincing evidence of emerging stature as regional and national authorities in their field unless their work assignments are specifically at the local or state level.
