Position Summary
We’re working on innovative foods and formulas that rival healthcare, pharma, human food, and tech companies around the world—foods and formulas that can extend the lives and cognitive function in maturing dogs and cats. We’re developing ways to improve the vision of cats and minimize pet allergies through quality nutrition. We were the first ever to extrude dry dog food and we’re backed by a lengthy list of patents—a portfolio of industry firsts.

Lead and support applied clinical nutrition research projects for Nestlé Purina Petcare R&D. As a Senior Nutritionist Veterinary, you will use your deep technical understanding and scientific knowledge along with strong communication and presentation skills to develop new technologies and provide expertise and insights to companion animal nutrition and related health solutions.
Initiate and lead research projects aligned to Nestlé Purina’s strategic areas related to pet health through nutrition
Provide support to projects on what is relevant to pet health and veterinarians (i.e., measures, methods, benefits, claims)
Demonstrate scientific knowledge in clinical nutrition
Leverage veterinary and consumer insights to drive innovation that promotes health and wellness of dogs and cats
Lead and support clinical trials of new technologies and products in a team setting
Stay current in animal nutrition literature and intellectual property, and propose new research approaches, methodologies, and technologies
Support and interface with internal and external stakeholders and the Purina Institute to share research findings, answer questions, and advise for external communications
Publish research in peer-reviewed journals, present at key industry conferences, and participate in Nestlé Purina-sponsored symposia to introduce innovations
Requirements
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent and licensed in at least one state in the US
2+ years experience designing, managing, and publishing clinical research in companion animal nutrition
Other
Diplomate of ACVIM-Nutrition or ECVCN Diplomate is preferred
PhD in nutrition or related field (physiology, clinical sciences, endocrinology, biochemistry) is preferred
