PawMED is a new, privately owned, urgent care veterinary hospital in Charleston, SC working to shake up the way the veterinary world sees patients. Pioneering a novel model in veterinary medicine, we provide convenience and world class care, often at a fraction of the price. PawMED is looking for a driven, compassionate veterinarian to join its growing medical team. Must love dogs (and cats).
Charleston is an amazing waterfront community with beaches, history and architecture, world class restaurants and entertainment, and an excellent community. Consistently ranked as Travel + Leisure’s #1 city in the country, Charleston offers a robust selection of everything that makes life outside of work fun and fulfilling. With a flexible doctor schedule, no surgery, and it’s out-patient practice model PawMED offers a healthy work-life balance allowing you to enjoy all that Charleston has to offer!
At PawMED, doctors work a rotating schedule of 12 hour shifts with an average of 12 - 13 shifts per month giving you the flexibility and time outside of the hospital to enjoy Charleston and everything it has to offer. We work hard to group shifts together to ensure that you get the most of your time away from work. As an urgent care facility, we are open 7 days a week so some rotating weekend work will be required.
PawMED is located in a brand new facility which boasts state-of-the-art technology and workflow. We use Instinct EMR and whiteboard, a patient and workflow management software designed by veterinarians for a busy practice making communication and workflow simple. We have new laboratory equipment (full Heska suite of analyzers including chemistry, CBC, coags, blood typing, immunochemistry, blood gas) for in-house results quickly - think of your life with less client call backs! New Cuattro HD digital radiology with radiologist consults on every study performed (including STAT consults if needed). New point of care ultrasound and bloodwork for quick evaluation of the sick patient. We also have a fully stocked in-house pharmacy as well as a comprehensive online pharmacy. At pawMED we are always excited about new technology and equipment and strive to continually improve the resources available to our doctors and patients we serve. We boast a strong relationship with the local 24-hr emergency and specialty center to facilitate seamless transition of patients who need inpatient, overnight, or more advanced care.
PawMED focuses on letting you do your job the way you think is best - micromanaging your medicine is not what we’re here for. The majority of your time will be independent practice with an occasional multi-doctor environment. If an applicant desires, monthly case and/or journal reviews can be arranged as well as case rounds with key opinion leaders and specialists in the area. We also encourage investment in continuing education with an annual CE allowance.
Veterinarians with PawMED will be responsible for evaluation, diagnostics, treatment, planning, and management of patient care for all patients seen in hospital. Given the outpatient nature of our practice, long term followup and case management is not routine. As an outpatient urgent care center, PawMED’s focus is not routine vaccination, preventatives, inpatient care, or major surgical procedures. As a growing business, PawMED truly functions as a team therefore all team members are currently expected to lend a hand in everyday hospital operations.
Compensation will be based on experience and is flexible (hourly, salaried, production, etc.) based on your needs and preference. Benefits offered may include: health insurance, retirement compensation, CE allowance, license maintenance, professional membership maintenance. Generous signing bonuses are available.
