Four day work week!  No on-call!  Have work/life balance!  Save lives!  Winnebago County Animal Services is looking for a veterinarian to join our team!

This position is one of two veterinarian positions within the department.  Our veterinarians provide high-quality medical care to shelter animals, including dogs, cats and other domestic animals. Our veterinarians provide spay/neuter, and necessary surgical treatment of various medical conditions, herd health oversight, and healthcare maintenance on shelter pets.  Our veterinarians provide humane medical treatment of all animals seen in the shelter and will play a part in the maintenance of shelter protocols.  Veterinarians split time evenly between surgical and wellness/medical.  Veterinarians are supported directly by two Certified Veterinary Technicians.  Knowledge of and training in shelter medicine preferred.

With an annual animal intake of approximately 4,500, WCAS is a department of Winnebago County government, located in Rockford, IL. The department provides a range of services in Winnebago County, IL and boasts high reclaim and adoption rates.  Thanks to the efforts of many, including our veterinary team, WCAS euthanasia is low and reserved only for cases of public safety or where injury or illness make euthanasia the humane option.
