The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Kansas State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Student Success. The Associate Dean is administratively responsible for all matters related to the professional degree (DVM) curriculum and student success. As well as provides a leadership role in curriculum development and innovation.
Organize documentation and submission of academic program reviews as required by the Kansas Board of Regents, Department of Education, AVMA-COE, and U.S. Higher Education Learning Commission and participate in the CVM accreditation process.
Plan and implement student-related programs such as new student orientation, white coat ceremony, awards, scholarships, and graduation.
Advise on, as well as, facilitate leadership of student-organized clubs and activities.
Serve on the Dean's Leadership and Administrative Council and serve as an ex officio member of the Curriculum, Academic Standards and Re-Admissions, Student/Faculty Affairs, Awards, and Scholarship and Ethical Behavior Committees.
Supervise library and student programs office personnel who manage issues related to academic standards, student resources, and budget management.
Coordinate scheduling of curriculum each semester. As well as, enroll and track progress of students in the DVM degree curriculum.
Represent the CVM as a member of the University Committees involved in academic policies and serve as a liaison in the University Office of Student Financial Assistance and the Office of Student Access.
Coordinate a Veterinary Career Development Course.
DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA COE accredited institution
Associate Professor or Professor level experience in a college (CVM) and/or school (SVM) of veterinary medicine and eligible for appointment at one of these ranks (clinical or tenure track)
Educational and leadership experience in a CVM and/or SVM
Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills
Commitment to excellence in professional veterinary medical education
Understanding and support of diversity, inclusion and belonging, and initiatives related to student wellness
Leadership in new and ongoing innovation education programs and teaching methods
Ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty
Documented skills in oral and written communication, human relations, and creative problem solving
