The leadership of the Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital (PVH) is looking for an experienced veterinarian with a high level of capabilities in surgery to join our veterinary team.  Our hospital is located in the beautiful Berkshires of Massachusetts – a semi-rural area with no veterinary referral hospitals.  The veterinary team at PVH has continuously worked to expand and elevate the services offered to fulfill the needs of our clients and their pets.  We currently have the capabilities to perform radiologist reviewed abdominal ultrasounds and cardiologist reviewed echocardiograms.  We utilize a Karl Storz video-endoscopy system to perform both rigid and flexible endoscopy.  Our veterinary team includes four licensed veterinary technicians, as well as another seven veterinary technicians, who perform a high level of anesthetic monitoring and support.  Previously, a boarded surgeon came to our hospital on a regular basis to perform advanced orthopedic and soft tissue surgery. 

Two months ago, that boarded surgeon retired.  We have been unable to find another traveling surgeon to come to our hospital, so have begun looking for a surgeon to join our practice.  The current veterinarians at PVH have both the desire and abilities to tackle most soft tissue surgeries and some basic orthopedic surgeries.  We want to build upon our current abilities and elevate our surgery capabilities to a more advanced level.

We are looking for an experienced veterinarian who would be capable of performing orthopedic surgery and advanced soft tissue surgery.  A strong background and confidence in their surgical skills are a requirement, as well as the desire to continue to develop and improve their skills.  While board certification or qualification is welcomed, it is not required.  The leadership of PVH is committed to supporting a veterinary surgeon by investing in the necessary equipment and veterinary support staff needed to provide advanced surgical procedures.  We are looking for someone that will work with us in creating an advanced surgical service that we can eventually offer to the rest of the veterinary and pet owning community in our area.

The leadership of PVH provides a high level of compensation for the veterinarians and the staff for the region we are located in.  The veterinary surgeon would be compensated in both a consistent and production-based manner.  They would also have all of the other compensation benefits available to them as a PVH team member – health insurance, IRA retirement plans, a profession fee/CE reimbursement, and more.  Additionally, costs related to becoming licensed in Massachusetts and relocating to our region would be compensated for.
