VCA Northview Animal Hospital is hiring for an Emergency Veterinarian to join our AAHA-accredited, emergency, multi-specialty referral and general practice in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania!
Our Urgent Care Service provides experience in the treatment of a wide variety of ailments and builds a very solid medical foundation. It also provides:
-A supportive DVM and Technical Staff. -Monthly morbidity and mortality rounds. -Monthly Journal Club Meetings. -Monthly Doctor Meetings. -On-call surgical staff – with opportunities to learn emergency surgeries if interested.
Our opportunity allows you to practice high quality medicine and gives ample opportunity for continued growth by working alongside our team of specialists in Surgery, Internal Medicine, Emergency & Critical Care, Zoo Medicine and Acupuncture/Integrative medicine. Our well-equipped facility offers ultrasound, digital radiography, CT imaging, endoscopy, and bronchoscopy. Our intensive care unit offers the ability to deliver oxygen by cage or nasal cannula at cage side; I-STAT and in house chemistry, CBC and coagulation profile. We also have patient monitoring to include; multi-parameter monitors (oscillimetric BP, pulse oximetry, end tidal CO2, and ECG). Doppler BP is also available. We stock a complete in house E/CC pharmacy and a full line of blood products for both dogs and cats.
Spend your first year learning to practice solid emergency medicine/urgent care alongside experienced clinicians and boarded specialists in Emergency/Critical Care; Internal Medicine; Surgery; and Zoo Medicine! Make a very good salary, get a mentored experience, and continue to learn all at the same time. We are offering a six month Mentoring Program for newer doctors joining our ER/Urgent Care Service! During the first six months of employment you will have:
-Access to a boarded Criticalist. -Bi-weekly educational meetings with the Criticalist. -You will begin by shadowing another clinician. After the first month of shadowing, the following month you will have primary case responsibility but will work with another doctor on the service. -You will rotate with our Zoo Medicine Department to increase your comfort level with the avian and exotic species that we see.
Schedule: This position will include daytime, weekend and possible overnight emergency/urgent care shifts
