Florida Equine Veterinary Associates (FEVA) is seeking an experienced veterinarian to assist our existing team in providing outstanding service to our professional clientele.
We provide primary care and specialist sports medicine consulting services to our professional clientele. We are based in Ocala, Fl but also provide services out of state and regularly travel to national Thoroughbred horse auctions. Our primary patient demographic is the training Thoroughbred but we also service a large show and sport horse population, mainly on a referral basis. Our clientele operate at the pinnacle of their sport and all of our senior veterinarians are either ACVS, ACVSMR or acupuncture certified and we are actively involved in clinical research and teaching.
We utilize wireless radiography, digital and wireless ultrasonography, videoendoscopy, lameness locator, UTC (ultrasound tissue characterization), nuclear scintigraphy, and have direct access to both Hallmarq and high field MRI, to provide accurate diagnoses for our patients. We utilize ESWT, PRP, IRAP, Prostride, and Multiradiance lasers in the rehabilitation of our patients, undertaking diagnostics and therapeutics both on-the-farm and at our lameness center.
The position will involve predominantly racehorse and sports horse ambulatory work. As the caseload includes a large number of high level training barns with professional clients, the work has a strong lameness and diagnostic imaging bias. The successful applicant will join an established team of experienced equine veterinarians and specialists in the ‘horse capital of the world’.
A minimum of 5 years equine practice experience is required. Applicants should have experience in sport horse or high level racehorse practice and have keen interest in sports medicine and rehabilitation with an ambition to further their professional development. This position may also suit a seasoned practitioner who wishes to enjoy the collaborative team approach to practice with regular journal clubs, and informal rounds.
Remuneration package will be commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications/ experience and will include a practice vehicle, mobile phone, relevant memberships and insurance, CE stipend, percentage of after-hours fees and potential for performance bonuses.
We are looking for applicants who are excellent communicators both with staff and clients, and who view a move to central Florida as a potential long-term stay with an interest in professional development. For the correct individual, future ownership of this privately owned business is a possibility. Must have, or be eligible for FL licensure, have a clean driving license, and be authorized to work in the USA.
Ocala is a beautiful place to live: close to the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, with wide open green spaces for biking, riding, and walking. Close to Gainesville, Tampa, and Orlando, it is perfectly located for easy travel, with I75 running directly through the town.
