The National Institute of Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Education (NIAMRRE) hosted by Iowa State University is currently accepting applications for an Associate Director of Operations. NIAMRRE (niamrre.org) is a member organization that drives cross-sector engagement and coordinated action to combat the global threat of Antimicrobial Resistance across humans, animals, and the environment. In short, we connect people, resources, and ideas to accelerate and synergize efforts to combat antibiotic resistance.
The Associate Director of Operations position will be responsible for serving as the operations manager for the NIAMRRE office. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Director and the Associate Director of External Relations to lead the implementation of the strategic plan and develop the efforts of the institute. Responsibilities of the position include actively contributing to the oversight and management of the Institute, as well as providing counsel to the Director regarding key financial, organizational, and programmatic decisions, along with coordination of project activities and objectives across multiple institutions and other stakeholder groups. Specifically the position will provide supervisory roles for office staff, oversee the development of office process and workflows, oversee financial accounting and budget management, and work to oversee the development of the institute. The position will work closely with the Executive Director and Associate Director of External Relations to build relationships with potential new members and move them towards formal commitment to NIAMRRE membership. Furthermore, this individual will be responsible for the development and engagement of member organizations to assure that they see a return on value and remain members long-term.
The successful candidate will be a leader and an effective team builder and have the capacity to help others work together to achieve shared goals. In order to be successful in this role, the candidate will possess demonstrated project management experience, excellent written and oral communication, strong problem solving skills, and the ability to synthesize and integrate diverse ideas and perspectives. Lastly, this position is expected to communicate with diverse audiences about highly technical information, therefore the successful candidate will possess excellent technical writing skills.
Required Minimum Quals:
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; OR a Master's degree and 3 years of related experience; OR a Ph.D. or other professional degree and related experience.
Master’s degree in Business Administration or closely related field. Experience in business management. Experience in process development, implementation and improvement. Experience in business development and lead conversion. Supervisory experience. Experience in fiscal management and accounting. Experience interacting with a broad stakeholder group in contentious topics.
