Chicago Equine Medical Center is seeking a career veterinarian interested in making a long-term impact on a varied horse population in Northeastern Illinois.
Experience and education are important for this position, but candidates also need to be committed, confident, and motivated to provide the best care possible for hospitalized, outpatient, and ambulatory patients. Owning a horse or being an experienced rider is helpful, but not as necessary as enjoying time spent talking with clients about their horses or a willingness to go above and beyond to articulately and honestly answer questions for a client who is uncertain about the necessary treatment for their beloved animal. Associates provide routine and emergency services in the field, so candidates should be flexible and independent in addition to being collaborative and supportive of colleagues on complex cases.
Our practice offers qualified candidates the opportunity to work in a full-service outpatient facility and surgical center with modern diagnostic and treatment options. Associates are expected to be timely and accurate with their billing and maintain detailed documentation. Chicago Equine provides clients with 24 hour emergency and critical care availability. Because our team’s quality of life is a top priority, emergency coverage is shared among Chicago Equine veterinarians and a select group of referring equine veterinarians
Associates share horse show veterinarian duties at all HITS hunter jumper competitions in Illinois and other local horse shows as scheduled. They may also have the opportunity to spend time working at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL.
As a founding practice of Mixed Animal Veterinary Associates North America (MAVANA), our clinical and administrative staff have unique, interest-based mentorship opportunities available to them at various facilities across the country.
