The MDVM is an innovative leader and key member of the veterinary hospital leadership team. The MDVM partners with the Hospital Manager (HM) and hospital leadership team to lead an efficient and profitable operation by advancing medical care, driving hospital revenue and margin growth through medical visits, training and development of associate and team members, and partnering to create a hospital culture based on high quality patient care and exceptional customer service. Primary responsibilities include oversight of all medical and surgical cases for all DVMs in the hospital, establishing medical standards and protocols, coaching, development and leadership of associate doctors, monitoring key financial reports and metrics to ensure overall financial health and growth of the hospital. The MDVM helps establish, monitor and deliver hospital budget targets. We are looking for an experienced industry visionary that can assist this high volume hospital with current and planned growth.
Advancing Medical Care
Oversees surgical and medical cases for all doctors, ensuring positive outcomes, accurate estimates, and client communication and education.
Answers client questions and concerns regarding medical and surgical procedures.
Provides oversight and direction of medical standards, quality of care and inventory.
Establishes medical protocols; clearly communicates changes in protocols and trains on new protocols as needed.
Oversees transfer of medical cases from doctor to doctor.
Minimizes waste and controls costs relating to medical supplies, surgical instruments, and drug inventories.
Actively recruits, interviews, and selects a diverse and high-performing team of DVMs to meet the needs of the clients and patients.
Monitors Doctor performance and production; coaches and develops, providing the right tools, setting clear expectations, gives constructive and timely feedback.
Rewards people for good performance and takes action to address underperformance as needed.
Develops rapport with ADVMs and hospital leadership through regular check-ins and one-on-ones.
Plans and conducts regular DVM meetings to align the team, solicit feedback, and ensure clear communication.
Leads effective employee engagement efforts to improve and elevate engagement, resulting in strong retention and positive hospital culture.
Participates in technician appraisal and medical counseling sessions as needed.
Ensures all medical staff receive applicable training, including the mentoring of new graduates.
Supports the Hospital Manager with staff training programs and tracking CE and DVM licensure.
Has a visible and accessible leadership presence in the hospital, modeling servant leadership attributes.
Growing the Practice/Financial Responsibilities

A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university.
Licensure in good standing to practice in the state of Utah.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills through charting and in appointments with clients.
A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics.
Capable of complex decision making, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
Staff management including: coaching, developing, and motivating staff and DVMs
Intermediate computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office suite (Previous practice management software knowledge preferred).
Stays current on new medical information and changes to veterinary medicine.
