Our busy small animal veterinary clinic is seeking a licensed Technician. Must have basic computer literacy skills and be able to handle multiple unrelated tasks simultaneously while working in a busy environment. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work on your feet all day. Must be customer service oriented and friendly. Must be able to administer injections, take vital signs of animals, and properly restrain animals including fractious pets for examination and treatment. Technician must be able to give treatments/medications intravenously, orally, and subcutaneously. Must be able to work well independently and in a group. Upon hiring all employees are subject to a 90 day probationary period during which time employment may be terminated as determined by management.
Give prescribed medications, assist in performing treatments, diagnostics, and monitoring
Administer fluids, cleaning, feeding, and walking patients as needed
Anesthesia induction, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery of patients
Perform laboratory tests such as urinalysis, blood counts, cytologies
Obtain and record patient case histories
Collect, prepare, and/or submit requested tests and perform laboratory procedures
Provide specialized nursing care
Prepare animals, instruments, and equipment for surgery to include cleaning and sterilizing
Assist in diagnostic, medical and surgical procedures
Stock and maintain medicines and supplies
Preparing invoices, discharging instructions, and client information packs
Give owners update and provide follow up for certain hospital patients.
High school diploma or equivalent
Veterinary Technician certification (CVT) or to be a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
On the job experience preferred
Skills and Knowledge
Know the range of services the practice provides and the species it treats
Use Proper Medical terminology when speaking and writing
Be familiar with infectious diseases, including their prevention and steps to eliminate them
Motivation, Excellent communication skills, willingness to learn, and team-oriented spirit
Work requires lifting and carrying animals weighing up to 150 pounds (with assistance)
Walks or stands for extended periods of time; frequently works in a bent position
May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal feces
May be exposed to bites, scratches, contagious diseases and animal wastes
Hazards associated with aggressive patients, infected animals, and controlled substances
HOURS ARE MONDAY THRU FRIDAY 7:45 AM TO 5:00 PM (or later, depending on appointment load) Eligible for cost shared health benefits @ 90 days and non cost shared Dental benefits. Three paid days off after 90 days and 5 after one year of employment.
Pay rate is negotiable and will depend on applicant's knowledge/experience.
