Imagine working in an emergency practice that you are in charge of or own, in a beautiful part of the country...
If that thought appeals to you, I have an opportunity to offer.
Lamoille Valley Veterinary Services is located in the center of Northern Vermont. We are a busy practice, currently seeing our own emergencies except 10 pm to 8 am, and we draw for the latter from our own clientele, that of surrounding practices, and even from New Hampshire and Canada (the latter two partly on account of having a significant breeder clientele). The closest emergency only practice to us is BEVS in Burlington, VT (42.5 miles away, close to an hour drive if traffic and weather are favorable).
Our practice has seen phenomenal growth in the past two years, and we see now as a good time for an emergency service to transition out from our day practice and take over that aspect of the workload. It will take a smart and motivated individual to take full benefits from what this opportunity has to offer, and advantages to this concept is that the facility is well-located to serve the area, is well-equipped and well-designed (so overhead costs would be minimized if it became a separate practice), and there is a solid history of caseload. The effort would be well-supported; we have doctors, technicians, and assistants that participate; we have a budget to offer; one can start with shifts that bridge daytime hours into overnight and on-call, and transition to overnight shifts. We already have overnight staffing of assistants that ready the hospital for the next day, provide nursing care and laboratory support, and field phone calls; so medical staff called in will not have those obligations, or, once one can add an emergency/critical care technician, the same will apply.
If nothing else, check out this opportunity. Send a letter of interest and a CV/Resume through the application function of this website if you are tempted. Don’t pass it up, it might just be the life you are looking for.
