South Texas Veterinary Ophthalmology is seeking a Full-time Veterinary Technician to join our team based in San Antonio, Texas (Stone Oak Area).
Current practice hours are : Monday – Friday 7:30am – 5:30pm. Hours typically vary and include after hours and rotational on-call responsibilities.

Other qualifications include: Previous veterinary technician/assistant experience required // Proficient in IV catheters placement, blood work, and IV, IM and SQ injections // Skilled in monitoring anesthesia and working with various monitoring equipment // Team player // Eager to learn and is self-motivated // Enjoys a challenging and fast-paced environment // Excellent verbal and written communication skills // Skillful with computer programs and typing // Ability to multi-task with a smile // Willing to cross train to perform reception duties

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required: Previous veterinary office experience, High School graduate or equivalent • Preferred: CVT, LVT or RVT
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Proficient in Microsoft Office software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) // Proficient with various veterinary software // Proficient operation of various office equipment (copier, scanner, fax machine) // Basic filing skills // Effectively manage multi-line phone system // Effective interpersonal communication skills // Effective in multi-tasking (prioritizing and accomplishing tasks) // Effectively handle stressful situations // Maintain a positive work environment // Excellent verbal and written communication skills
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability to maintain professional and courteous demeanor in challenging/stressful situations // Prepare and maintain exam, treatment and surgical rooms // Greet clients and patients // Obtain patient history and updates from clients // Perform and/or assist with diagnostic procedures // Maintain accurate patient medical records // Enter service fees into the patient processing database // Calculate medication dosages and prepare instructions for clients // Review patient instructions with clients and distribute educational materials // Create and review treatment estimates and payment options with clients // Maintain order to public areas (waiting room, exam rooms, kennel area, etc.) // Place catheters and assist with surgical equipment monitoring (anesthesia, ventilator, etc.) // Provide general aspects of after-hours and on-call service // Other duties as assigned.
