SoBran, Inc. is seeking a Floor Leader to serve at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland (Building 33).
Overview: Responsible for all activities required for the proper care and maintenance of NIAID Division of Intramural Research animals.
Description of Duties:

Will serve as the person in charge in the absence of the Facility Manager and the Assistant Manager
As directed by the Facility Manager or Assistant, assign work to the staff and follow-up on staff schedules to meet routine and emergency needs of the animals.
As directed by the Facility Manager or Assistant, supervise and direct daily activities of animal caretakers and cagewash personnel to ensure that all required functions are carried out appropriately, including receiving animals, feeding and watering, sanitation and cleaning, handling and restraint, health surveillance, equipment maintenance, supply inventories, animal manipulations, laboratory procedures, and other contract-related duties.
Act as team leader for animal care personnel.
Perform duties in ABSL2 and 3 areas.
Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) and the contractor’s policies and procedures are adhered to by the staff.
Monitor environmental and biological conditions in the facility and report any discrepancies.
Assist in training of Technicians, Animal Caretakers, and Cagewash personnel.
Report any abnormal conditions of the animal facility or immediate vicinity to appropriate personnel.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; must be certified by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science as an Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) or be currently eligible for the certification and become certified within 6 months of obtaining the position.
Required Experience: 3 years experience in a laboratory animal facility, leadership experience preferred. Must have experience in such specialty areas as rodent, rabbit and non-human primate facilities management, timed matings, barrier management, and data management. Must have a working knowledge of biohazard containment. Must be able to complete an intensive background investigation through the National Agency Check and Inquiries (ANACI) and pass a security risk assessment through the FBI and Criminal Justice Information Services Division. Must complete the required training and receive clearance on the duties of Floor Leader as outlined.
