Associate Veterinarian Wanted – well-established 3-doctor, full service, small animal practice in Alburtis, Pennsylvania. Primary species served are canine and feline. High quality medical and surgical standards are expected by our clients, staff and management. Our hospital is well-equipped with digital radiography, dental radiographs, ultrasound, rigid endoscope, in-house lab including i-STAT, and fully computerized cloud-based medical record system with full online access. A successful applicant should be able to step in and perform basic surgical procedures, medical workups, and wellness care for our patients. We expect our doctors to work collaboratively as a team, and we enjoy a great degree of open dialogue about day-to-day case management. However, our doctors also can enjoy a high degree of independence in case management with the assumption of a high standard of care for all patients. We have good relationships with and utilize a variety of specialists, both at local and regional referral centers as well as in-house specialists as needed for more extensive workups. Our Full-Time associate veterinarians have one weekday off each week and are in a rotation to see appointments on Saturday mornings every third week. We will consider Part-Time applicants. No on-call service is provided by our hospital as there are several 24-hour facilities to whom we refer after hours care. Generous base pay will be commensurate with experience level. A "pro-sal" pattern of pay is utilized. Education o Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university with a veterinary license in good standing from the Pennsylvania State Board of Veterinary Medicine o Must demonstrate desire to continue learning in both personnel management, veterinary care and office skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to speak effectively before small groups of customers or employees of the hospital.
Ability to graciously deal with client complaints and billing questions.
Ability to successfully communicate with diverse personality types
Ability to negotiate with difficult people
Must be experienced with basic computer and printer tasks and operations. Able to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Internet.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Must possess solution-focused problem solving skills

Duties & Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient work ups
Take complete history
Perform thorough physical exams
Recommend comprehensive diagnostic screening
Correctly interpret diagnostic results
Perform diagnostic procedures & surgery
Perform appropriate pre-op exams & diagnostics
Practice good surgical techniques
Oversee client communication and education
Communicate patient findings, possible diagnostics, prognosis, and recommended plan to owner
Take owner constraints into account
Give personal status reports on hospitalized patient's condition
Perform discharge appointments as needed
Call back clients personally on results of diagnostic tests (aside from “negative” results on routine wellness fecal analyses and Lyme/HW/Ehrlichia/Anaplasma tests.)
Respond personally to client phone calls in a timely manner
Send personalized sympathy cards for euthanized patients in a timely manner
Prescribe appropriate medication for patient’s condition
Follow hospital guidelines for client payment and credit policies
Does not waste clinic resources
Promote teamwork & staff efficiency
Assist in keeping appointments running on time
Clearly communicate instructions to staff
Is willing to assist staff with their duties as needed
Communicate pertinent information with other doctors to ensure smooth transfer of cases when not available
Promote a positive attitude at the practice
